Early August Community Events

Typically, we encounter a rather relaxed August schedule, but not this year. The first week is full of important local and federal opportunities to be engaged. Many neighborhoods throughout the country are hosting their own Neighborhood Night Out, which officially takes place Tuesday evening August 1. Check for details with your local neighborhood association and be sure to attend.

Wednesday morning the 2nd at 9 AM the festivities for the Grand Opening of the Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge will begin at Wallace Marine Park, West Salem. Please note the time has changed due to the anticipated excessive heat. For all the details visit the City of Salem’s website at: http://www.cityofsalem.net/.

Then Wednesday evening at 6-7 PM I am privileged to be the moderator of the Town Hall hosted by US Congressman Kurt Schrader at Center 50+, 2615 Portland Rd NE, Salem 97301. You are invited to attend this town hall meeting with Representative Schrader in Salem. This is an opportunity to ask the Congressman questions, express your concerns and hear from him about the work he’s doing for you in Washington.

Thursday afternoon August 3rd White Oak Construction will once again host its annual Dog Days of Summer BBQ & Salem Police Foundation Benefit. Join Foundation President Dan Wellert and enjoy hot dogs and cold beverages while you visit with friends and folks from the Salem Police Foundation. There will be a Special Guest Presentation at 5:45 PM, which you won’t want to miss! White Oak Construction, 2455 River Rd. S, Salem 97302.
