“Lift Up a Child’s Voice” Inaugural Luncheon: Thursday, January 14

“Lift Up a Child’s Voice” Inaugural Luncheon

The new year brings new opportunities to serve my community. One new area of service is CASA: Court Appointed Special Advocates, where I am honored to serve as the Chair for the Sustainer Campaign. The Sustainer Campaign is focused on building a strong foundation of supporters who donate on a monthly basis. This “sustaining” revenue will help provide the resources for on-going operations.

For those of you unfamiliar with CASA of Marion County it is an organization dedicated to securing volunteers who in turn advocate for abused and neglected children. These children are in need of safe and permanent homes. These community volunteers are appointed by a Judge to advocate for abused and neglected children that have ended up in state care. A CASA is often the one constant person in a child’s life, staying on a case until it is closed. CASAs are specially trained to understand the juvenile court system and the policies and procedures of the Department of Human Services. They are taught how to investigate cases of abused and neglected children who are wards of the court, while being the voice of the child in court proceedings, and keeping the Judge informed of the child’s health and welfare by offering carefully researched, objective and unbiased information about the child.

Please join me for our inaugural luncheon on Thursday, January 14 as we learn how we can all “Lift Up a Child’s Voice,” and be part of the solution for over 500 children waiting for their Court Appointed Special Advocate. The luncheon is sponsored by Withnell Motor Company, and we only ask that you consider making a sustaining / monthly donation once you have heard the success stories of children who have been blessed with a CASA.
