Mid-March Economic Development Update

One of my priorities continues to be economic development in Marion County and the surrounding areas. There are many public policy decisions that impact the ability of businesses to operate, expand and grow jobs. Some of those policy decisions are negative, yet most businesses adapt and survive by improving productivity. These adaptations many times reduce the number of jobs, i.e. people.

Among the positive assets that are available for business growth are Lottery Business Development Grants. Community Development Grants are also available to help our cities improve their communities. These are referred to as our Economic Development Job Creation Grants. Applications for both of these grants are due by noon on Monday, May 2, 2016; and can be downloaded from Marion County’s website at http://www.co.marion.or.us/CS/EconomicDevelopment

If you would like to discuss a potential project, you may contact Sarah Cavazos, Management Analyst, Marion County Community Services, Phone: (503) 589-3234. Please feel free to share this opportunity with others who may be interested.

Remember my door is always open and I welcome your thoughts, comments and concerns.

Sincerely,
Kevin Cameron
