Alert: OLCC’s Salem Community Meeting-Implementation of Measure 91
As you Marion County Commissioner I am extending an invitation to all citizens to attend the OLCC’s Salem Community Meeting, February 2, concerning the creation of a framework for the commercial licensing and regulation of recreational marijuana in 2016. As shared in the invitation I received yesterday “OLCC is committed to a robust and transparent public process to help the agency implement the law in a way that protects children, promotes safety, and brings the recreational marijuana industry into the regulated market.”
This is an extremely important issue, especially in our community where the voters of Marion County rejected Measure 91 by a 48/52 vote. We recognize the measure did pass statewide, and we must adhere to the new law. However this is your opportunity to voice your opinion on the regulation of recreational marijuana by the OLCC.
The meeting will take place next Monday evening, February 2 from 7-9 PM at the Chemeketa Eola Hills Viticulture Center located at 215 Doaks Ferry Rd, West Salem. If you are unable to attend the meeting you may go to this link http://www.marijuana.oregon.gov which the OLCC has set up to educate the public about the law and communicate about opportunities for public involvement.
Your participation is needed and will be appreciated. I hope to see you there.
