Mid-January Meetings and Events
Greetings and Happy New Year. I hope you are settling into 2017 and that you have been able to stay warm during these stormy days. For those who have been negatively impacted during this time our prayers are with you. There are two important activities taking place this coming week. I will be in attendance and invite you to join me.
The first is the winter meeting of the Federal Lakes Recreation Committee for Detroit Lake (FLRCDL), which will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at the Gates Fire Department, Gates at 6:30 PM. This will be the first meeting since the July 16 meeting, when over 125 people came to hear what could / could not be done to improve the recreation season at Detroit Lake. A lot has gone on behind the scenes and we hope you will attend to hear what is being done to help reach this goal. Major topics include increasing the water depth under the marina’s, and several others that affect boaters.
Along with Representatives from U.S. Congressman Kurt Schrader’s office, the Oregon Governor’s office, US Forest Service, and the Army Corps of Engineers, I will be attending to brief and take questions. Please plan to attend this important meeting, and learn what is happening with this major recreational area in our county.
Then on Friday evening, January 20, I am honored to be the master of ceremonies for the annual SAIF Agri-Business Dinner. The rich and proud history of agriculture will be honored and the banquet features a special guest speaker’s humor, inspiration, and business insight along with an appreciation for agricultural values. Each year an outstanding Future Farmers of America student is recognized for leadership in shaping the future of the industry. This fun night honors a special part of Oregon’s history and culture, while looking forward to its future. Visit the event webpage for more information.
I hope to see you at both of these community events.
