Celebrating 175 Years!
This Wednesday, May 2, we are taking our Board session on the road to Champoeg Park to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Marion County! Yes, our county is older than the State of Oregon. The meeting begins at 9 AM and the public is encouraged to attend.
The meeting will include historic presentations from John Mullen, Park Manager, Champoeg State Heritage Area as well as David G. Lewis, PhD, Native American Historian and Greg Leo, Friends of Historic Butteville. Our Board will then take action with a formal proclamation recognizing the 175th anniversary of Marion County.
Also, for approval will be a proclamation designating May 2018 as Foster Care Appreciation Month in Marion County. Guest present for this will be: Ormond Fredericks of DHS, Jim Seymour with Catholic Community Services and Gwen Slippey also with DHS.
A special thank you to Champoeg State Heritage Area for hosting Marion County for this special meeting. Concluding our meeting you may join us for a tour of the Champoeg Visitor Center. Be sure to join them on Saturday, May 5, 2018, for the annual Founder’s Day Celebration.
I hope that you will join us, or watch live via Facebook at May 2 Board Meeting
