Election Day-Tuesday, May 19, 2015
Have you completed your special elections ballot? If so thank you for participating in one of the most important duties as a citizen. If not, there is still time. Completed ballots can be dropped tomorrow, Monday the 18th, and Tuesday the 19th at any of the authorized drop stations. See your voter’s pamphlet for locations, or go to http://www.co.marion.or.us/NR/rdonlyres/B5984802-2EED-40D0-9C52-0F8A9C3B1CA9/60911/MCEVPMay192015SpecialDistrict.pdf
Something new this year, for those of you who have returned your ballot, Marion County voters may now track their ballots, thanks to a pilot program. The Marion County Clerk’s Office is testing a pilot program that allows voters to track their ballots through this election cycle. Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess said the program is just one of three in Oregon: Multnomah, Yamhill and Marion counties are piloting the project and Burgess said he hopes to be able to institute it next year. “We have been working on a way for people to track their ballots for a couple years and then we were contacted about this program,” Burgess said. “We want to have even more transparency. People don’t always have the most confidence in their government.” To sign up and track your ballot, click here.
