Leadership Salem Government Day at the County
The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Salem class will be visiting Marion County for Government Day on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Commissioner Kevin Cameron has invited his fellow elected Marion County Officials to join him for a panel discussion about county government with the class.
Leadership programs through the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce’s charitable arm The Inspire Foundation provide individuals with opportunities to develop their leadership skills and connect with the community where they live, work and play. Through education and hands-on experiences, these individuals graduate with a better understanding of the unique challenges facing our region, and can go on to create positive change that improves our quality of life.
Leadership Salem, sponsored by the Inspire Foundation & the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, identifies, motivates, and educates potential community leaders. Leadership Salem involves a commitment. Through ten full-day sessions (History & Culture, Business & Commerce, Education, Legal, Government, Natural Resources, Community Resources, etc.) participants receive a comprehensive overview of Salem’s opportunities and complex issues. By the end of the program, participants are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities for community involvement and leadership.
Leadership Salem is recognized by businesses, employers and decision-makers as an important preparation to serve in our community. This one-year program allows individuals to develop and refine leadership skills, and create lasting bonds with other up and coming leaders.
“One of my goals for participating in Leadership Salem was to learn firsthand new things, information that will help me to be a better leader. Leadership Salem has expanded my relationships with some of the finest in the area. It was encouraging to spend time with fellow class mates – young business men and women – who are planning now how they can be the community leaders of tomorrow. Something I should have done long ago. Leadership Salem provides an opportunity at any age, to better understand the inter-relationships and inter-dependence of our community, however the sooner you take the time to learn, the sooner you will be part of the future leaders of Salem.”
